HPV: Recommended for everyone through age 26. Adults 27-45 should discuss with their healthcare provider.
MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella): At least one dose for those born in 1957 or later.
Varicella (Chickenpox): Two doses if you’ve never had chickenpox or weren’t vaccinated.
Why Adult Vaccination Matters
As we age, our immune system weakens, making us more susceptible to severe infections. Vaccines tailored for older adults can provide better protection against complications from illnesses like the flu, potentially preventing hospitalization or worse outcomes.
Keeping Track
Ask your healthcare provider for an immunization record form. Bring it to all your medical visits and have it updated with each vaccine you receive.
Special Situations
Pregnancy: Certain vaccines, like Tdap, are recommended during pregnancy.
Health Conditions: Some medical conditions may require additional vaccines. Consult your healthcare provider.
Travel: Depending on your destination, you might need specific vaccines.
Remember, vaccination is one of the safest and most effective ways to protect your health. Always consult with your healthcare provider to determine which vaccines are right for you based on your age, health status, and lifestyle factors.
